Graham Thompson: "trust_your_instincts_1_second.wav" (201KB)
Review: After a little bit of draconian scandal and controversy, Graham's AT&T bit officially made peace with the Winamp Police. After pangs of aesthetic law enforcement, this NuBit has passed the bit-a-lyzer test by cropping itself from 2 seconds to 1. Whereas before, the bit declared "Trust Your Instincts" it now has been forced to say simply "your instincts". The basic integrity of the original message is still preserved although when accidentally looping in Winamp, the bit seems to say "your ink stinks". Subjective word-games aside, this bit definitely has its own voice. The voice part was produced with AT&T Voice software and then enhanced with what seems to sound like a music clip intro to Graham's Southern Section Series played backwards(?). Either way, it qualifies as a NuBit as the backwardsness has been processed away from the recognizability of the sample source plus I believe that Graham created the music and the sentence himself using the AT&T software. This bit suggests metaphysical properties which I think is what some Spoken Word aspires to. As a bit then, this piece speaks volumes about faith and the word made synthetic flesh. (Jeremy)
